The girls of Maryvale need your help...

For the past few years I have had the joy of volunteering my time to entertain the girls at the Maryvale’s annual Christmas party.

What is that you ask?........well Maryvale Los Angeles Orphan Asylum is a 501(c) 3 agency founded in 1856 and has been serving children of the Greater Los Angeles area for the past 149 years. It is a licensed home for girls who are placed here through the Department of Children and Family Services. These children have been removed from their homes for child abuse and or neglect, some have just arrived and others have been here for years. This facility provides housing, meals, an education and many opportunities these girls would otherwise not be exposed to.

During the last Christmas party in 2006 I learned that the chief organizers of this event for the past 11 years were now retiring and so far no one had stepped in to fill their shoes. I felt in my heart that I needed to find a way to keep this annual Christmas celebration going. Although this party is put together by many volunteer such as Zuniga Entertainment, supplying the music and dancing and games and Mr. and Mrs. Clause to pass out the gifts, it’s the fundraising to purchase all of the girl’s gifts that becomes the challenging part, and that is where I need your help. Each girl chooses three gifts that they would like and our goal is to provide them what they wished for. They will receive one gift at the Christmas party and two on Christmas morning.

You can sponsor a girl, do the shopping, wrapping and delivery yourself or you can donate money to the pay pal / credit card account and we can do the shopping and wrapping for you!

Trust me it is worth your efforts, these girls are so amazingly strong, smart and beautiful on the inside and out. You can’t help but fall in love with their wide eyes when Santa walks in the door, their smiles and laughter as they strut their stuff on the dance floor and the tears of joy when they open their presents. So please be an angel to one of these precious girls through sponsorship or donation. Your participation is greatly appreciated.
